Absent Healing

What is Absent Healing?

Spiritual healing practised when the patient is not present is called ‘Absent’ (or ‘Distant’) healing and is similar to prayer.  It is possible to transmit healing energies over any distance and this form of healing, practised by groups or individuals, can be very effective.  The patients may or may not be aware that this healing has been undertaken for them but may obtain much benefit from it, coming as it does from the love and concern that their friends and relatives have for them.

Groups of Healers join together on a regular basis for the purpose of Absent Healing.  Absent Healing can meet the needs of those people who are unable to receive contact healing either because we cannot put them in touch with a Healer in their area or for other reasons.

Adding a name to our Healing Book

Like many healing groups and religious organisations, the Surrey Healers maintain a “Healing Book” (now on-line - see below).  This is used by members to regularly send Absent Healing to whoever requests it.  Remember, the amount of love and healing energy available in the Universe is limitless!

If you are receiving contact healing from one of our members, you can ask them to send you Absent Healing between appointments.  In any case, your Healer may well suggest that they add your name to one or more healing books.

If you or someone you know would like to receive Absent Healing you/they can be added to the Surrey Healers’ book by emailing  healingbook@surreyhealers.org.uk .  Please put something in the "subject" line of your email, otherwise it will be rejected as junk mail.

Please tell us the person's name, where they live (town or district is sufficient) and a brief description of their illness/problem and circumstances.  Any problem of body, mind or spirit can benefit from healing.

Please also tell us how long you would like the name to remain in the book.  The names will be removed after 3 months, however, should you wish to resubmit the name after that, you are very welcome to do so.  We would appreciate your letting us know if the circumstances change and Absent Healing is no longer required.

The On-line Healing Book

The SSHA Healing Book is now on-line (please visit The Healing Book page).  This gives all visitors to our website the opportunity to send healing and prayers to those in the book (whether SSHA members or not).
